Constructed of bronze with multi coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a black white, and gold enameled Latin Cross, overlaid by a shield bearing an Austrian imperial eagle, set within a circular laurel wreath, flanked by a date of 1690 on a hollow background, overlaying an oval ring bearing an inscription of K. U. K. I. R. HOCH UND DEUTSCHMEISTER NO. 4 with dates 1914
